I love farmers’ markets, but there is nothing like being in the Niagara Fruit Belt in Ontario in the summertime. Fruit stands with images like the one above are everywhere.
This peninsula, between Lake Ontario, Lake Erie and the Niagara River has some of the best agricultural land in all of North America. Fruit also means grapes, which also means wine. This area is now home to more than 150 wineries as well – The Napa of the North.

Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me approx. when the fruit trees in the Niagara region would be in bloom. My husband and I recieved a gift card to stay at one of the hotel/spas in the area and we would love to come when the trees are in bloom. I’m sorry to bother you with this but I could not find a tour site or any other site where we could get the information. Thank you very much for your time, and if you don’t have the information, maybe you could direct me as to who to contact. Dawn Dube
Well, this my first spring living here in 40 years so I didn’t really know the answer to your question. However, this link shows that late April and May are the times for fruit tree blooming. http://accessibleniagara.com/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=86
